Planned the exhibition with intellectually handicapped persons/donated all profit to Simeon’s house8/3/2022 I made the shirts with the works with intellectually handicapped persons who attended the exhibition. / I made the exhibition plan and got the approval to exhibit. / I attended the exhibition with my own made video about the right of people with disabilities to move. Click the above to Site. Exhibition Purpose: Currently, Korea has already entered an ultra-aged society, and the aging of the disabled is increasing. Usually, when disabled people get older, they become increasingly isolated because they are often disconnected from the social institutions they have been in. When disabled people age, their parents age too. We need to pay more attention to the Care Support Service for parents and disabled sons and daughters who are aging together in the future. I experienced this situation while volunteering in a common household where elderly people with disabilities live, and I discovered problems with the aging of the disabled. At first, I didn't realize that there was a problem like this. However, through this volunteer experience, I decided to plan an exhibition that offers an opportunity to give social interest to people like me who do not recognize these problems by exhibiting paintings drawn by disabled people. Exhibition Content: Visual works of the elderly with disabilities and their works are produced as goods (profits by sold goods will be 100% donated to Simeon's house). During the exhibition period, a video screening to improve awareness of the aged disabled (video production: Gee Tak Lee) Click here to edit. Title: Exhibition with Disabled People in Simeon's House [1min 32 sec] <Filmed with iPhone 13 mini; Tools Used: ‘Adobe Photoshop’ and ‘Adobe Premiere Pro’> The video was produced in order to provide a virtual tour of the exhibition that I directed of T-shirts designed by disabled people in Simeon’s House. It includes the process of preparing and holding the exhibition. Title: The Increasing Population of Aging Disabled People [5min 49s] <Filmed with iPhone 13 mini; Tools Used: ‘Adobe Photoshop’ and ‘Adobe Premiere Pro> Using video, I intended to raise awareness of the recent increase in the aging disabled population. The video introduces statistical and graphical data that demonstrate the increasing aging population of people with disabilities in South Korea. I interviewed Bong-Chul Kwak, a former director of the Korea Forum on Human Rights for the Disabled, and inquired about the fundamental reason behind the aging population of the disabled and how society can care for and respond to the social issue that is in the blind spot of society and help improve support services or enact policies for the aging population of the disabled. Title: The ‘Right to Move’ of the Disabled
[2min 24 sec] <Filmed with iPhone 13 mini; Tools Used: ‘Adobe Photoshop’ and ‘Adobe After Effects’> I filmed flaws in the public transportation system in Seoul, South Korea, which shows the discomfort that the disabled would experience in their daily lives while using public transportation. In order to increase the awareness of the necessity for improvement in facilities of a transportation system that help people with disabilities to travel, I researched the past accidents that occurred due to lack of facilities that ensure the ‘right to move’ of the disabled and realized the severity of this social issue. Thus, I edited the footage that I filmed, demonstrating how the bus and subway facilities in Seoul are less supportive of the disabled and providing images of developed facilities that can show how they can improve the daily lives of the disabled when they travel. #right to move #people with disabilities #public transportation |
